On sixth podcast “Dialogues with ECO” de Dilograf Labels, Sandra Mercé, Head of Marketing and Communication, talk to Esther Villa, ESG Manager at ISDIN, a company that in In 2020 it obtained B Corp certification.
ISDIN has been driving an eco-design packaging program since 2021, integrating sustainability from the earliest stages of product development. “Over these years, the marketing, innovation, and eco-design teams have worked very closely together to improve the recyclability of packaging, reduce the use of virgin plastic, and incorporate recycled materials. One example is the Fusion Water sun protection platform, which is now 100% single-material, making it easier to recycle,” explains Esther Villa. Solutions such as refillable bottles have also been developed for some product ranges. ISDINCeuticsas well as the use of aluminum with recycled material.
One of ISDIN's most important projects is the recovery of the Posidonia seagrass meadow in the Mediterranean, together with the Bluewave Alliance. At ISDIN, they are working on two major movements: “Love Your Skin”, for a future without skin cancer, and “Love Your Planet”, focused on rejuvenating seas and oceans.
“The project with BlueWave Alliance, focused on the recovery of the Mediterranean, falls within this second phase. One of its key aspects is the protection and regeneration of Posidonia oceanica, a fundamental species for the marine ecosystem, as it contributes to CO₂ absorption and provides habitat for numerous species, in addition to being an emblematic element of the Mediterranean,” states Esther Villa. Specifically, work has been underway for years in an area between Ibiza and Formentera, with marine reforestation initiatives such as the planting of tens of thousands of Posidonia seeds.
Looking ahead, the company remains focused on its roadmap outlined in the 2030 Agenda, with decarbonization being one of its key challenges. This includes significantly reducing its carbon footprint, particularly Scope 2 emissions, and progressing towards climate neutrality. Another priority is the eco-design of its packaging, where efforts are underway to improve recyclability, reduce the use of virgin plastic, and incorporate recycled materials, all in line with increasingly stringent regulatory requirements.
“Sustainability is part of ISDIN’s DNA and is integrated into all areas of the company, with the ambition not only to be the best company in the world, but also the best company for the world,” concludes Esther Villa.
