VII Congress on Packaging and Circular Economy

Ensuring that all packaging sold in Spain is 100% recyclable is no longer an option, but a regulatory requirement. This change, which must be implemented by 2030, is leading companies to rethinking materials, processes and business models with the aim of moving towards a circular economy system throughout the entire product life cycle.

The entry into force of the European Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is forcing the packaging and waste management sector to undergo a regulatory and structural transformation, and most companies are unsure how to implement the new requirements in a practical and efficient manner: what tax, regulatory, or market incentives could encourage the use of recycled materials; what strategies are proving most effective for integrating the circular economy without compromising profitability; and, in general, how all these changes will affect packaging trends.

To address all these concerns, the VII Congress on Packaging and Circular EconomyOrganized by the Cluster of Innovation in Container and Packaging’s most emblematic landmarks, the November 4th en Valencia FairThe event will bring together companies, entities y experts who will share knowledge, experiences, and real solutions to move toward a sustainable production model aligned with the new circular economy.

At the congress, funded by the Department of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana, the following will be addressed latest legislative, technological and recycling advances that are setting the course for the sector. It also counts on the collaboration for its development of Litotúria Packaging, Aimplas, DS Smith, Grabalfa, Grupo La Plana, Innotech – Grupo Lantero, Implica, Appreciate y Procircular.

A complete program

The congress will begin at 9 pm with the institutional welcome by Amaya Fernandez, President of Cluster of Innovation in Container and Packaging, and Philip Carrasco, regional secretary of Industry, Commerce and Consumption of the Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana.

Then at 9 pm, the opening presentation will be held, which will be given by Miguel Borràs, CEO and founder of Between, under the title 'The year we innovated dangerously'.

The day will continue at 10 pm with the first roundtable discussion, focused on the technical and legislative environment, in which they will participate Laura sanz, general director of IMPLIES; Jose Vicente Ronda, managing partner of Heura; Jose Mª Bermejo, deputy director of operations at RATE, and Emilio J. Pérez, director of FEDEMCO. The debate will be moderated by Mª Belén García, director of PACKNET.

After a coffee break and networking at 11:00 a.m., the conference will resume at 11 pm, when the second panel discussion, dedicated to recycling, will begin. Participants will be Óscar Hernández, CEO Anarpla; Anna Rivas, Corporate Sustainability Manager of Lantero Group; Roser Herrero, Head of Circular Economy at UBE, and Laura Catalá, Packaging Materials Specialist Read, under the moderation of Teresa Martínez, Director of Circular Economy Projects at syntax.

A las 12 pm, the third roundtable discussion will be held, focusing on the driving technologies of the circular economy, with the participation of Carmen Sanchez, technical director of ITENE; Irene Rios, researcher in the packaging group of aimplas; Bosch shell, Head of Packaging and Advanced Materials at Ainia, and Rafael Miguel, market manager for circular economy, packaging and biobased products GaikerThe dialogue will be moderated by Alex Brossa, manager of Packaging Cluster.

Later, at 13 pm, the fourth roundtable discussion will take place, dedicated to sharing experiences and business success stories. Participants will be Victoria Tapia, Methods and Times Engineer fripozo; Jorge Higón, head of the Dairy and Liquids section and promoter of the RetornA project of bonÀrea, and Daniel del Olmo Rovidarcht, R&D Packaging European leader of Sigma (Campofrio). The debate will be led by Andrés Gil, International Events Manager Valencia Fair.

The conference will conclude with a closing session at 13:50 p.m., followed by a networking aperitif starting at 14:00 p.m., which will round off a day of knowledge, debate, and collaboration around sustainability and innovation in the packaging sector.
