axilone, specialized in plastic injection and aluminum transformation for luxury cosmetics, and Eastman, a global supplier of materials, present the fruit of a new joint project: a Recycled and recyclable crystalline resin with a glass-like shine, and its applications at the service of premium beauty.
The newest addition to the Cristal™ One resin portfolio, Cristal™ One Renew IM812, is designed to deliver copolyester-like performance in a recyclable (RIC1) material. Cristal™ One IM812 and Cristal™ One Renew IM812 have received RecyClass Recyclability Approval and are classified as fully compatible with state-of-the-art PET bottle recycling processes in Europe.
This resin offers a unique combination of benefits for beauty brands: it is recyclable and composed of up to 100% certified recycled content, without compromising color or performance. It combines the properties of a sustainable material with the ability to produce thick parts with very high levels of transparency and gloss. Combined with Axilone's injection molding expertise, it offers the potential to develop multiple applications for all industry segments: closure solutions for skincare and fragrance products, and packaging for makeup and skincare (lipsticks, sunscreens, etc.).
“Eastman is proud of this project, which reflects the power of collaboration and shared expertise in defining the future of cosmetics packaging, allowing recycled and recyclable materials to embody the codes of premium beauty,” he says. Tara Cary, Eastman's global marketing director for cosmetics. “Cristal One Renew IM812 not only meets the high standards of aesthetics, touch, and feel demanded by top brands, but also supports their sustainability commitments.”
Reynald Trochel, Axilone's innovation director, explains: "In our opinion, this new resin is very promising because it meets several criteria that are of particular interest to us and that we promote in our proposals for our customers: recyclability (with the choice of materials that adapt to established recycling channels), the possibility of mono-material designs of different thicknesses and the integration of certified recycled materials, without compromising aesthetics or the high-end perception."
