HP accompanies Liberdúplex, A leading company in the Spanish publishing sector, specializing in the printing of books and graphic products, is taking a step towards transforming its operations by installing the HP PageWide T490 Mono, The only one Digital media in Spain of the company with a bandwidth of 106 centimeters.
The launch will take place in May 2026 at the Sant Llorenç d'Hortons (Barcelona) facilities and will allow Liberdúplex produce approximately 30% of its total volume digitally, which exceeds seven million copies annually.
One of the most relevant features of the HP PageWide T490 is its bandwidth of 106 centimetersThis allows them to work with the same rolls used in offset printing. Thanks to this, Liberdúplex avoids maintaining specific stocks for digital printing, unifies processes, and simplifies logistics. The combination of the press with a variable folder makes it possible to carry out quick and efficient format changes on a single production line, improving adaptability and optimizing delivery times.
Liberdúplex will be able to tackle applications that were previously unfeasible, such as comic and manga printing, thanks to the HP PageWide T490's ability to match offset printing quality—a goal the company had long pursued due to the demanding nature of these publications. Furthermore, the press allows for working with special formats, including larger sizes like 17 × 24 cm, expanding production versatility and opening up new product possibilities for the publishing market.
The transition to digital is part of Liberdúplex's commitment to more sustainable production models. The company estimates a reduction of around 30% in its carbon footprint, primarily due to the elimination of chemical processes and waste inherent in traditional technologies. On-demand production and waste reduction also contribute to a more efficient operation, aligned with the sustainability standards demanded by the sector and which are part of the strategic roadmap the company initiated more than a decade ago.
“For us, the arrival of HP digital technology is not just a technical improvement, but a real boost to our creative process. It allows us to dream bigger, respond quickly to our clients, and open the door to projects that were previously impossible. It is a step that fills us with excitement and confirms that, together with HP, we are building the future we want for Liberdúplex,” he stated. Victor Trillo, general manager of Liberdúplex.
Liberdúplex believes that the future of the sector lies in hybrid plants where offset and digital technologies coexist for many years, with an increasing role for industrial inkjet.
