Koehler Paper, part of the Koehler Group, responds to the high demand for organic tea packaging as well as sustainable packaging alternatives in the tea market. The various flexible packaging papers cover a wide spectrum of requirements: from knurling and heat-sealable, with and without barrier function, for example for high aroma protection, to outer packaging for tea bags or flow packs.
“Our flexible packaging papers offer numerous advantages: they are recyclable, offer optimal product protection, can be used with food, and thanks to their excellent runnability on tea packaging machines, they can be used with the same efficiency and speed as plastic films,” he explains. With “Koehler NexPlus® Tea Aroma” and “Koehler NexPlus® Tea Flavor”, the company offers two heat-sealable packaging papers with both a grease and oil barrier and a special aroma barrier, for example for essential oils and aromatic teas. “Koehler NexPlus® Tea Pure” and “Koehler NexPlus® Tea Coat” can be used for heat-sealable outer packaging of tea bags and flow packs with a natural feel or glossy surface. “Koehler NexPure® Tea” and “Koehler NexCoat® Tea Matt” are suitable for knurled outer packaging of tea bags when a barrier is not required.
In order to directly test the functional capability on its own packaging machines, the company offers already printed rolls as samples for tea bags.
Paper solutions with “NexFlex®” from Koehler Paper
With the NexFlex® product series, the research and development team at Koehler Innovation & Technology has developed a unique, recyclable generation of flexible packaging papers together with the experts at Koehler Paper. The aim is to replace plastic in packaging where possible by using so-called barrier papers. The range covers a wide spectrum.
The next generation of flexible packaging papers are sustainable barrier papers with their functional surfaces for product-specific protection (Koehler NexPlus®). The NexFlex® product family also includes single-sided coated papers with good dimensional stability and high smoothness (Koehler NexCoat®) as well as uncoated papers with a natural appearance (Koehler NexPure®). Various flexible packaging papers from Koehler Paper have been awarded the “Made for Recycling” seal by the environmental service provider Interzero.
