Luis Pitarch has been appointed new president of the Beverage Cans Associations. Pitarch is currently responsible for Public Affairs and Sustainability for Southern Europe at ball Corporation, a global company specialising in the manufacture of aluminium beverage cans. Ball Corporation is one of the entities that make up the Beverage Cans Association, together with Crown and Ardagh.
His appointment coincides with a significant moment for the industry: the 90th anniversary of the beverage can and the 30th anniversary of the Beverage Can Association. Pitarch takes over from Ivan Cirera, which is recognized for its successful management over the last two years. In this new stage, it is committed to continuing the training, institutional and communication initiatives that have been key to promoting beverage cans and consolidating their circularity.
A political scientist by training and with a master's degree in International Relations, Pitarch is a member of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership network. Before joining Ball Corporation, he served as head of institutional relations and parliamentary affairs in different departments of the Government of Catalonia, such as Territory and Sustainability, and Business and Knowledge.
Additionally, during his time as Associate Director of Public Affairs at Kreab, he designed strategies for clients in the waste management sector, as well as for large corporations in the food and beverage industry.
