Mondi has launched the re/loop FlowWrap all with wet wipe containersRe/loop FlowWrap is a form-fill-seal (FFS) solution made from mono-polypropylene (PP) that replaces non-recyclable laminates in applications requiring a customizable barrier, such as baby care, cosmetics, and household wipes. It is compatible with the mechanical recycling of polypropylene (PP) in accordance with CEFLEX D4ACE regulations and contains 35% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material.
Extensive internal testing and customer trials have demonstrated performance comparable to virgin alternatives, including reliable sealability, barrier protection, and smooth processability for wet wipe applications. The solution is compatible with existing packaging lines, allowing for a seamless transition to the re/loop FlowWrap.
The EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) mandates that, from January 1, 2030, 35% recycled material from post-consumer plastic waste must be used in this type of plastic packaging. With a 35% recycled content, Mondi's solution is ideally positioned to support future compliance with this target.
External tests on IMA Ilapak equipment have confirmed its high processability at very high line speeds for wet wipe packaging. Industry professionals had an early opportunity to see the new material at the INDEX fair from May 19-22 this year, where Mondi and IMA Ilapak presented live demonstrations of machinery packaging with the FlowWrap re/loop.
"With this launch, we are showing that wet wipe packaging can move towards circularity without reducing its performance," he says. Alessandro D'AgostinoBusiness Development Manager Home and Personal Care, Mondi Consumer Flexibles. "By combining a material designed for recycling with PCR material and excellent processability, we help our customers transition to sustainable packaging solutions while maintaining their efficient operations," she adds.
