Mondi has expanded its range of digital printing of six colors for corrugated cardboard packaging with the inclusion of white inkThis innovation reflects the growing trend of white digital printing on brown packaging. It allows for vivid, high-contrast designs that enhance brand recognition and promote sustainable solutions.
In the new white digital printing option, a white base provides the colors, logos, and motifs with the same sharp contrast on brown corrugated cardboard as on a white substrate.
It also offers halftone printing, which allows for smooth gradients, differentiated shading, and bevels that create three-dimensional image effects. This results in bright, high-contrast printed images.
High-performance digital printing combines high production speeds with high-quality, multi-color printed images, both on white and brown outer layers and on open flutes.
All inks used are water-based, tested and approved for use on primary packaging by Swiss Quality Testing Services (SQTS), an independent and internationally recognized food safety testing laboratory. Thanks to digital printing technology, printing plates and clichés are no longer needed, reducing preparation and production times and allowing for the rapid introduction of new designs and adaptations at short notice.
Digital printing, which now includes a blank printing option, offers advantages such as the ability to print sequential barcodes, EAN codes, and QR codes directly onto the packaging. This eliminates the need for separate labels, saving costs, time, and resources, as well as reducing potential scanning errors.
Medium and large quantities of the same design with variations can also be printed in a single run, for example, for seasonal, regional, or event-related campaigns. Thanks to quantity optimization, only the necessary amount of prints is produced per image, reducing storage costs and preventing overstock.
