Herma introduces two new self-adhesive materials for labels. In both cases, a film of transparent PP It combines particularly economical transparent properties with certified wash properties, available across the entire range of net widths with short delivery times.
The basis of these two new self-adhesive materials is the 72Hpw permanent multi-layer adhesiveIt provides high transparency for standard applications and certified washing properties.
“The 72Hpw adhesive we developed has once again proven to be a versatile product, perfect for film applications. Its excellent permanent adhesive properties impress even under humid conditions, such as those sometimes found in beverage packaging,” he states. Hendrik Kehl, product manager at Herma"Its special formula guarantees both washability and transparency. This adhesive is further proof of how multi-layer technology can be used to combine different, and sometimes contradictory, properties in a practical way," he adds.
For transparent applications, this adhesive is combined with Herma PP transparent super tc film (type 886) and two different PET peelable backings. These backings are available in thicknesses of 30 µm and 23 µm. In this way, the new self-adhesive materials cover virtually all processing requirements and offer high-speed dispensing options. Good print quality can be achieved in label production using all conventional printing processes. Both new self-adhesive materials are ideal for the cosmetic product labelingetc., as well as for applications requiring resistance to weathering and chemicals. They are also compatible with rigid HDPE recycling streams.
El pressure sensitive adhesive 72Hpw It has already been certified as recyclable by the Cyclos-HTP Institute in various material combinations, including Herma PP super tc transparent film. Therefore, it meets the recycling requirements for PET in an 80°C wash cycle and for HDPE in a 40°C wash cycle.
Furthermore, PP films combined with 72Hpw have been classified by RecyClass as fully compatible with the rigid HDPE recycling stream. The adhesive is also suitable for applications on glass and PP surfaces.
Both new self-adhesive materials are produced at Plant 2 of Herma's headquarters, which was specifically built for films. The highly automated production process ensures high-precision coating: optimal conditions for efficient and trouble-free subsequent processing of the self-adhesive materials into labels.
