Sorting sample envelopes, postcards, instructions, envelopes, cartons, and other two-dimensional advertising, information, and packaging materials is a decisive first step toward their efficient automated further processing. This includes gluing or inserting them into newspapers, magazines, and mailings. With the support of HERMA, Köra-Packmat, a leading specialist in flat product handling, has developed a versatile off-line feeding system that labels the products while separating them, thanks to integrated HERMA 500 label applicator.

The friction feeder, called AF3-300 AdvancedFeeder, has a dispensing capacity of 20 to 100 cycles per minute, which can be freely selected. It can process products up to A4 size and, above all, with a thickness of up to 15 millimeters. "Even the most popular cosmetic samples for magazines can be easily separated," he says. Jürgen Fetzer, Sales Director at Köra-Packmat.

The integrated HERMA 500 label applicator opens up new possibilities for efficient workflows. "Now you can quickly and reliably add a special address, a specific QR code, or other information addressed to a specific number of recipients in a single operation," adds Fetzer. In graphic arts companies and similar service providers, products are often counted manually and placed on a conveyor belt. There, they are aligned and fed into a label applicator, or labeled entirely by hand. This process is time-consuming and error-prone.

The AF3-300 Advanced Feeder and the integrated HERMA 500 are designed to ensure maximum process reliability and flexibility, with minimal changeover times. The feeder features an intuitive touch panel with a large display and counting function, allowing dispensing without a preselected number of products. Timed or continuous operation can also be configured via the display. The tool-free quick-adjustment mechanism makes it easy to set setpoints, which can be reproduced at any time.

The HERMA 500 also features an innovative quick-change system and a touchscreen for rapid setup. The menu structure is designed so that no more than three clicks are required to access any item. Favorite parameter settings can be displayed directly on the home screen. Operating the HERMA 500 is as intuitive as using a smartphone. This also makes the AF3-300 AdvancedFeeder particularly future-proof: in addition to the label applicator, other functional modules such as printers, scanners, camera systems, and other additional devices can be optionally integrated.
