The sector reusable containers takes a step forward with the development of the ECOPHIR APP, a digital platform that enables comprehensive monitoring of the life cycle of packaging, especially pallets, from its introduction to the market until its return. This project, led by the Packaging Cluster In collaboration with INNOVACC, It responds to the new obligations arising from Royal Decree 1055/2022, which requires proper management of reusable packaging to promote reuse and reduce waste.
The application has been developed by ECOPHIR RECYCLES, Group company JANE MORRAJA, a consulting firm specializing in the design of Deposit, Return and Refund Systems (DRRS). This digital solution seeks to address one of the sector's main challenges: the dispersion of pallets and reusable packaging within the logistics chain, which makes control and traceability difficult, increases operating costs, and complicates regulatory compliance.
With the implementation of the ECOPHIR app, companies in the sector will be able to monitor the useful life of their pallets, optimizing logistics and reducing costs. The platform will allow detailed tracking of each container, ensuring its reuse and guaranteeing compliance with current regulations. It will also contribute to improving business competitiveness and boosting the circular economy.
The clusters involved in the project include companies that face daily challenges in packaging management. For this reason, they collaborate to ensure that the solutions developed adapt to the real needs of the sector and help companies comply with current legislation.
This project not only seeks to ensure compliance with packaging and waste regulations, but also aims to generate a new business model that improves the circularity of reusable packaging, promoting efficient management throughout its entire life cycle.
The project, which will run until August 2025 with a total budget of €99.229,31, is supported by ACCIÓ, as part of the 2024 Competitiveness Reinforcement Initiatives (IRC) call.
The beneficiaries of the project are NOEL ALIMENTARIA, SAU.; Cardoner Slaughterhouse SA (MAFRICA); OBACH SL; ECOLIGNOR SL; Cartonajes Font SA, and Envases Plásticas del Ter SA (ENPLATER), while CÁRNICA BATALLÉ SA and ECOPHIR RECICLA SL participate as non-beneficiaries.
