Pick&Pack for Food Industry

F4F – Expo FoodTech 2025 –the reference event in Europe on technological innovation for the food sector- Y Pick&Pack for Food Industry –specialized in packaging and logistics solutions for the food and beverage industry – are facing their final stretch to convert from 1May 3-15 in Bilbao A world leader in foodtech. Over the course of three days, the BEC – Bilbao Exhibition Center will bring together more than 8.000 professionals, who will learn about the latest initiatives to automate and digitalize food production plants, as well as the latest developments in packaging, packaging, and logistics.

The digital and ecological transformation of the food and beverage sector largely depends on packaging and logistics. Therefore, Pick&Pack for Food Industry 2025 will address everything related to these two key drivers of change through the Packaging Congress 4.0 and the Operations & Logistics Summit, two forums that will bring together the sector's leading experts and professionals to redefine the future of the food supply chain.

In an environment of increasing regulatory pressure and demand from more conscious consumers, the Packaging Congress 4.0 will showcase how technological innovation and sustainability are revolutionizing the design, production, and lifecycle of food packaging. With the help of companies like BECKHOFF, various sessions will open the door to a new paradigm in which smart materials, sensors, and data analytics transform packaging into a strategic vector: capable of better protecting the product, extending its shelf life, and optimizing the entire logistics chain. Smart packaging not only adds value but also becomes a critical element of competitiveness.

Sustainability, one of the major axes of transformation, will be the focus of a session that will address the challenges facing the sector in meeting new environmental requirements without losing sight of efficiency and food safety.Arantza Madariaga, managing director of the ELIKA Foundation; Ignacio Malcorra, general manager of Aguas Insalus; María Alcántara, head of Legumes and Quality at Garlan; Izaro Martínez, marketing director of Cafés Fortaleza; and Cristina Rodríguez, head of Sustainability at Eroski. They will explain how, in the Basque Country, companies and institutions are promoting collaborative and innovative projects that allow us to move towards more responsible packaging.

But it's not just about innovating, it's about transforming everything. Under this premise, María Sanz, R&D Microbiology Manager at Christeyns; María Segura, Food Safety and Environment Manager at the National Association of Large Distribution Companies (ANGED); Adelaida Prieto, Head of Project Management at ITENE; and Santi Mier, CEO and Founder of OCEAN 52, will showcase how the circular economy is shaping the future of food packaging. New materials, sustainable design principles, and advanced recycling strategies are emerging as key to responding to consumers who are increasingly demanding about the environmental impact of the products they choose.

In parallel, the Operations & Logistics Summit will unravel how technological innovation is redefining logistics management in the agri-food sector on a global scale. In this regard, the future of plastics in the food chain will be one of the major topics of discussion, analyzing emerging solutions—such as bioplastics and advanced recycling technologies—that combine the functionality of plastics with the urgent need to reduce their environmental impact.

Technologies such as IoT, artificial intelligence, and robotics are transforming the food supply chain, providing greater transparency, traceability, and responsiveness. Experts such as Robert Marsol, Consultant at IFR, will analyze how these innovations make it possible to anticipate demand, optimize routes, automate warehouses, and achieve new levels of efficiency, sustainability, and operational safety.
