Torres family, in collaboration with its importer Walraven Sax, has launched its first wine in a reusable bottle in the Dutch market, which represents a significant step toward a more sustainable packaging system. This pioneering initiative, the first by an internationally renowned wine producer, sets a new standard in the sector, offering a tangible solution to reduce environmental impact and promote the circular economy.
The new reusable bottle, available with the Magnetic white and red wines, is designed to be used and refilled multiple times. The wine is produced at the Familia Torres winery in the Penedès region and transported to a bottling plant near the Dutch border, where it is filled and distributed to restaurants. After consumption, the bottles are collected, cleaned, and reused, thus closing the cycle and ensuring a completely circular system.
According to a life cycle analysis conducted by Partners for InnovationThis system is estimated to reduce CO₂ emissions by 50%, water consumption by 70%, and drastically decrease packaging waste, all without compromising quality or the wine-drinking experience.
In addition to the reusable bottle, Familia Torres has also presented Magnetic in stainless steel barrel format, further reducing the use of packaging materials and amplifying the circular impact.
