Fedrigoni Special Papers launches its 8th edition of the Fedrigoni 365 calendar 2025. Since 2017, Fedrigoni has been associated with the TM Design Studio (TsevdosMcNeil) to bring creatives together through this annual publication. Once again, the UK's design community has been invited to contribute, with each creative interpreting a randomly assigned date of the year through their unique style. This year, the project has been expanded with the participation of a selection of 92 international designers from 20 countries..
The overall theme of this year’s Fedrigoni 365 is “opposites.” In a divided world, the theme was conceived with the intention of fostering unity and celebrating diversity.
This edition consists of two volumes, printed in “dark” and “light” colours, which explore Fedrigoni’s wide range of coated and uncoated papers, through textures and variations in tone. The two volumes are presented in a multicoloured slipcase in Imitlin, one of Fedrigoni’s most elegant ranges of embossed papers, introducing a packaging element for the first time in the history of the project.
Each volume features designs inspired by opposing seed words, such as good/evil or west/east. Each issue features a juxtaposition of works by two creatives on opposing concepts, one in each book. Participants will not see the opposing design until the issue is released this November.
This split format not only creates a compelling design narrative, but also allows for a tactile and visual interplay of materials and ideas. By embracing this theme and presenting the book in two opposing, yet intrinsically linked volumes, the project aims to spark new and unexpected connections, encouraging dialogue both between the designs on the printed page and between designers in real life.
Ambra Fridegotto, Marketing Manager for Fedrigoni Special Papers in the UK, says: “Opposites define this year’s theme, which is reflected in the striking light and dark papers used in the book. However, life itself is never black or white – diversity has countless facets. We have embraced this complexity by interpreting it through papers that may look similar but differ in subtle and meaningful ways, whether by tone, texture or coating. It is a celebration of synergistic contrasts and the beauty they create together.”
The book was expertly printed and embossed by Leeds-based Pressision and bound by Diamond Print Finishers. The slipcases were produced in collaboration with Showcase Creative. Foil was supplied by Foilco.
All profits from previous editions have been donated to charity, raising over £35.000 to date. A limited number of Fedrigoni 365 editions are available to purchase from Counter-Print, with profits being donated to the Alzheimer's Society.
Production:
Fedrigoni 365 2025 has been lithographically printed in a special colour (877 silver) on a variety of 28 different Fedrigoni papers.
The British printer Pressision printed the publication and bound it Diamond Print Finishers. Sarah Bloor, Account Director at Pressision Creative Print & Packaging, commented: “We are delighted to be collaborating with Fedrigoni on the Fedrigoni 365 2025 project. Printing on black and white paper ranges with silver ink showcases Pressision’s specialist printing capabilities and highlights the unique qualities of each material. It is a privilege to help bring this project to life, which combines innovation with craftsmanship to celebrate the creative potential of paper.”
The publication is presented in a handmade case, produced by Creative Showcase, using a range of eight Fedrigoni Imitlin papers. Jack Batey, Showcase Director, said: “Being part of the Fedrigoni 365 project has been a milestone for us. Producing the case has allowed us to fuse exceptional paper with our passion for immaculate packaging, resulting in a piece that truly reflects both Fedrigoni’s and our commitment to quality and innovation.”
Each Imitlin paper has been carefully matched with a foil supplied by Foilco. “A topic very close to Foilco’s heart, the Fedrigoni 365 project is a highly anticipated publication that showcases the best of creative design. We are delighted to offer our support this year and to host a workshop at the launch event, where guests will be able to explore their own creations. Individuality through the magic of foil,” says Sam Williams, Brand and Events Manager at Foilco.
David Sedgwick, Studio DBD (UK), says: “It’s an honour to be part of Fedrigoni’s Project 365, a publication that consistently showcases high-level design work from some of the most talented minds in the industry, including friends and colleagues I admire. The book itself is superbly crafted to the highest standard, which adds a unique pressure to contribute something meaningful and noteworthy. This year, the theme of exploring opposites offered an intriguing challenge. I was lucky enough to be given a thought-provoking word that inspired me to take a fresher, more conceptual approach, slightly departing from my usual style. I’m looking forward to seeing how people interpret it.”
