AECOC has celebrated in Madrid its 8th Sustainable Logistics Conference, which has served as the stage for the delivery of the Lean & Green Awards, the European project, coordinated by the Association, which brings together companies committed to reducing CO2 emissions from their logistics operations.
In this year's edition of the Lean & Green Awards, a total of 44 companies have been recognized in five different categories, which mark the progress made in achieving the different objectives set by the initiative in the process of decarbonizing logistics.
Thus, thirteen companies have been recognized in 2024 with the Lean & Green Award, after having presented their action plans during this year to meet the objective of reduce its CO20 emissions by 2% over the next five years. The companies that have received this award are Ader, Capsa, Cofares, Costa Brava Mediterranean Foods, Dawsongroup TCS Ibérica, Delgo, El Junza, Furgo Trayler, Gagotrans, Hijos de Rivera, Transportes Frigoríficos Narval, Palibex and Virosque Transport and Logistics.
ATDL, Campofrío, Casa Tarradellas, Coferdroza, Grupo Mas, GTO, J Carrión, Palletways, Pepsico, Silotrans, TLX and Viatris Pharmaceuticals are the twelve companies that have received their first Lean & Green Star, which certifies that they have achieved a 20% reduction in their emissions, always within a maximum period of five years.
This year, the Lean & Green Awards have awarded the second star of the project to Captrain, Coca Cola Europacific Partners Iberia, DAMM, El Pozo Alimentación, Europastry, IFA, Merck, Olmed and Taisa, for having achieved an additional reduction of 10% on the first objective of the program.
On the other hand, Carreras Grupo Logístico, Disfrimur, Euro Pool System España, Hijos de Luís Rodríguez, Mercadona, Primafrio, Procter & Gamble España and Refresco Iberia, have achieved the third Lean & Green Star, which accredits a 35% reduction in the emissions generated in its logistics processes and an improvement in its data collection processes.
Finally, Hutchison Ports BEST and Logifruit have received the fourth Lean & Green Star, which recognises the work of those companies that have achieved the 55% reduction in the emissions generated in its logistics processes.
Since its launch in 2017, Lean & Green has become the blueprint for the decarbonization of the logistics processes of Spanish companies that integrate the entire value chain, from manufacturers to distributors, including logistics operators and transport and logistics service companies. In these seven years of activity, the initiative has consolidated a community in which companies collaborate and share their good practices to make progress in reducing the emissions generated by their activity. Proof of this is the fact that, currently, approximately 45% of companies are transport users and the other 55% are logistics and transport service providers.
“Lean & Green has become a key partner for companies in developing strategies aimed at decarbonizing their logistics operations. It also plays an essential role in the formation of a dynamic community, where companies exchange experiences and collaborate to progress towards a more sustainable and competitive logistics model,” explains the project manager, Barbara Ferrer.
