The Packaging Cluster held its “Night of Packaging” at the Hotel Princess in Barcelona on 21 November, bringing together nearly 200 professionals from the packaging sector. This annual meeting highlighted the growing impact of the industry in Catalonia.
The president of the Cluster, Martina Font Olivé, opened the event by highlighting the evolution of the sector, which has more than 700 companies in Catalonia, with a combined turnover of close to 13.000 billion euros. In this context, the Cluster has promoted various initiatives throughout 2024, such as the presentation of sector studies and the organization of more than 25 activities, 5 specialized training courses and a business mission to Finland, with a second one planned in Bologna in May 2025. He also highlighted the management of more than 20 projects focused on sustainability, digitalization and internationalization.
During the gala, the leadership and innovation of several associated companies was awarded, highlighting the project Packimpact as the winner of the Collaborative Project Award in Sustainability. This innovative initiative, led by the companies Rieusset, NG Plastics, Alzamora, Font Packaging, Lúcid, inèdit, Virospack, Enplater, Aimplas, IFLEX, Comexi and the Packaging Cluster, has resulted in an intuitive online tool that allows companies in the packaging sector to evaluate the environmental impact of their products. Using Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), Packimpact analyses the entire value chain efficiently, thus promoting sustainability in the sector. The award was given by Just Lopez Cano, Head of Business Development at Hinojosa Packaging PACS.
virospack, a leader in the production of cosmetic dispensers (dropper manufacturers), received the Award for the best strategic change to improve competitiveness, thanks to its commitment to increasing production capacity and advancing sustainability. The award was given by Antonio Frances Sempere, CEO and Managing Director of Fakolith.
Finally, the Most Proactive Partner Award was given to Trading Films, a company specialising in the marketing and distribution of thermoplastic polymers, which stands out for its active involvement in the Cluster's initiatives and its ability to adapt to the challenges of the sector, especially in the regulatory field. This recognition underlines its commitment and its contribution to the improvement of the sector. The award was presented by Toni Pinos Vaquer, Marketing and Communication of Fira Barcelona (Hispack).
