Royal Vaassen, in collaboration with UPM Specialty Papers, has developed several Recyclable and food-grade barrier paper solutionsRoyal Vaassen's Barryrwrap concept covers packaging needs ranging from medium to the most demanding barrier requirements, including barrier properties against oxygen and moisture.

With the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste (PPWR) Recyclability Regulation's recyclability requirements fast approaching, finding recyclable packaging solutions with widely available recycling infrastructure is crucial. “Our barrier papers are a sustainable alternative to laminates and plastics. They offer robust protection, prioritizing performance and circularity, and are suitable for existing production lines and products, such as coffee, broth, and chocolate,” he explains. Mark Gerritsen, Sales Director at Royal Vaassen.

"Barryrwrap Everest It is our highest-performing barrier paper, developed for instant coffee and other dry products requiring maximum protection. The material provides an excellent barrier against moisture, oxygen, and light; printing is reproduced with exceptional clarity, and it is ready to seal on existing production lines. Thanks to its fully recyclable paper structure, Barryrwrap Everest is a sustainable and circular alternative to traditional aluminum laminates, without compromising on quality or processability,” it continues.

UPM Solide™ Lucent wrapping paper provides an ideal base for Barryrwrap solutions. Easy to transform, it is smooth and dense. This minimizes the required basis weight while offering the strength for efficient performance on high-speed lines. A higher or lower basis weight of UPM Solide Lucent can be selected according to application requirements.
