January 2, 2017

AIMPLAS, Technological Institute of Plastic, has organized for March 1 and 2, 2017 the sixth edition of its international seminar on Sustainable Biopolymers and Composites.

The meeting, which in its 2014 edition brought together more than 150 professionals, is consolidated in 2017 with a program in which a score of experts and companies in the sector will discuss the challenges and opportunities offered by bioplastics. In addition, the main novelties in biodegradable plastic materials and from renewable sources as well as in recycling will be presented.

Sponsored by Basf, Kuraray and Novamont, the seminar has been structured in two days. In the first one, trends and the role of bioplastics in the economy of the future will be addressed from an overview. Subsequently, the main novelties in raw materials will be exposed and the most innovative applications in the packaging sector will be presented.

The second day will begin with a review of the current regulations that regulate the use of biopolymers at an industrial level and will continue with a space dedicated to biotechnology and production of biopolymers. The point and end of the seminar will be a panel of speakers in which the success stories and the most recent industrial applications will be presented, such as those carried out in sectors such as food, construction, textiles or fishing and agriculture. .

As in previous editions, another of the great attractions of the meeting will be the exhibition area. In this space, the participating companies will show first-hand their latest innovations and launches in commercial products, and an interesting space for the exchange of information and contacts will be generated.
