AIMPLAS presents its innovations at Empack Oporto 2015

9th September 2015

This year, in addition to its traditional edition in Madrid, the first edition of Empack Portugal will be held on September 23 and 24, in the city of Porto. AIMPLAS will be present at the event, where it will present some of its sustainable packaging projects.

On the subject of biomaterials, the results of the Biobottle project will be presented: a high-performance container that allows the product to undergo heat treatments such as pasteurization or sterilization. Bio4map is another project in which AIMPLAS has participated, which has resulted in highly transparent and biodegradable packaging for fresh pasta with barrier properties for food preservation. With Wheypack, developed within the framework of the AIMPLAS-AINIA alliance, a new packaging for dairy products with 100% biodegradable materials has been achieved, with a lower environmental impact by using surplus whey from cheese manufacturing to generate the new packaging material .
In the area of recycling and sustainability, the results of projects such as Life Extruclean will be shown, which make it possible to eliminate hazardous substances from packaging for subsequent recycling. In the Banus project, functional barriers have been developed in multilayer food packaging, which allow the use of recycled materials in contact with food.
