Amaya Fernández, new president of the Packaging Cluster

businesswoman Amaya Fernandez, manager and financial director of irisem SL, has been chosen new president of the Cluster of Innovation in Container and Packaging at the General Assembly held in Valencia. It is the first time that a board of directors has become president of the Cluster, a business association made up of more than 70 companies in the packaging value chain.

Amaya Fernández accedes to the position in substitution of Jose Orbe, after completing her four-year mandate "in which she has left the Cluster in a great place, for which I am grateful for the work done," according to the new president after being elected by acclamation.

With a degree in Business Administration from the University of Valencia, and a Master MBA in business management and marketing from ESIC, Amaya Fernández is also a co-founder of the technology nunsys, as well as a member of the board of directors of CEV (Valencian Business Confederation), Quimacova (Chemical and Environmental Association of the Chemical Sector of the Valencian Community) and AVEP (Valencian Association of Plastic Entrepreneurs). In the same way, it is part of the governing councils of Itene (Technological Institute of Packaging, Transport and Logistics) and Aimplas (Technological Institute of Plastic).

During the Assembly, they have also been elected to become part of the Cluster's governing council as members Jose Luis Olmedo, director of ITC Packaging; David OlmosCEO pinpack; Fernando Arrufat, CEO DS Smith Technical Cardboard; Francisco Anon, Commercial Excellence Manager of Emsur Saymopack; Marta Codoner, managing director of aglolak, and Javier García, director of siegwerk.

The new managers and directors join the Board, in which they maintain their positions as first vice president Peter Ballester, CEO of logifruit; and as vowels David moliner, CEO by Limitronic; Miguel Angel Martin, CEO of Hispano-European Marcomer; Jose Miguel Richart, CEO Hinojosa; Sergio Altur, director of new sustainable developments of alpine; Telesforo Gonzalez, technical director of Technobox Electromechanical, and Javier Zabaleta, managing director of Itene, also as a protective partner of the Cluster.

In her speech, Amaya Fernández wanted to reinforce her "commitment to the Cluster and associated companies" and predicted that in this new stage "we have a very favorable period ahead, since after the pandemic the packaging sector is going to have a lot of prominence ».

Among others, the new president also wanted to emphasize that “the administration is aligned with our objectives and growth scenarios, and together we are going to achieve a bigger, stronger cluster, so that companies continue to do a lot of networking, and we can help them to face all the changes that we are experiencing, for example in matters of raw materials, prices, legislative changes, etc. ”, he concluded.

The first major event in which Amaya Fernández will serve as president will be on September 17 at the XII Gala of the National Awards for Design and Sustainability of Container and Packaging. In it, the winners of the packaging challenges posed by Danone, Carmencita, Verdecora, ITC Packaging, Grupo La Plana and Logifruit will be announced. The Awards also have the collaboration of Innotech (Center for Innovation and Development of Emsur-Coexpan), Hinojosa, Esic, Grupo La Plana, Ecoembes, Flexográfico, Biconsulting and Tecnobox, as well as with the financing of the Department of Sustainable Economy, Sectors Productives, Commerce and Work of the Generalitat Valenciana.
