July 10, 2024

To commemorate Ardbeg Day, this year Ardbeg launches a limited edition of its whiskey: Ardbeg Spectacular. Ardbeg Day takes place on the last Saturday of the Islay Malting and Music Festival (Fèis Ìle) and It is the celebration of the reopening of the distillery, in which all the “ardbeggians” come together to enjoy an entire day around this unique smoked whiskey.

being the first whiskey from the distillery aged in port barrels, this avant-garde limited edition presents a “spectacle of flavors.” Unlike the classic Ardbeg, matured in bourbon, this whiskey fully aged in port barrels provides overflowing richness and an acrobatic turn of color.

Gillian Macdonald, Ardbeg Master Blender, commented: “Ardbeg Spectacular is a high-flying spirit, well suited for Ardbeg Day. Its years in bourbon and port barrels create a spectacle of flavors, the likes of which Ardbeggians have never tasted before. We invite fans to gather and delight in its quirky notes of mint chocolate, incense, lavender and smoked nuts, accented by a bold duo of salted caramel and tar. Like the best circus acts, this is a whiskey not to be missed.”

Continuing with this tradition, Madrid also celebrated this important date, which took place at the new Madrid whiskey embassy, Holy Drop. Lovers of Islay smoked whiskey had the opportunity to enjoy a tasting of Ardbeg Spectacular along with the brand's other iconic whiskeys (Ardbeg Wee Beastie, Ardbeg An Oa and Ardbeg Ten), a tasting led by the brand ambassador Dani Sempere.
In addition, they were able to enjoy a wide variety of cocktails with Ardbeg, and even purchase a unit of this limited edition for the first time.
