Avery Dennison lanza AD Procerta™ (label testing service), a new test lab service that is set to transform the way the pharmaceutical industry experiment label materials.

There are many variables involved in creating pharmaceutical product labels, especially medicines, which must be executed and applied perfectly for the safety of the patient. Understanding the many legal and regulatory requirements and how the labels will perform in specific environments is necessary to ensure that the labels are robust enough to meet the demands of the end user. There are many factors that need to be considered and pharmaceutical packaging engineers along with brands now have access to a service that can simplify and streamline this process.

Leiden Bio Science Park in the Netherlands houses the state-of-the-art laboratory of A.D. Procerta, which provides access to a wide range of testing capabilities. “A variety of label specific tests on-site with the guidance of a team of experts to determine if a label material is suitable for a given application," he says. Joseph van Noort, Principal Scientist for Global Pharmaceutical Innovations at Avery Dennison.

"We simulate real-world conditions in our labs and narrow down the options for testing materials," he adds. Benoit Jourde, senior director of new growth platforms in Europe for Avery Dennison. Some big pharmaceutical companies have been testing the service for the past two years, with the goal of launching it this year. “Having learned from these pilot clients, we are now working with more than 5 large pharmaceutical companies and also some smaller ones”, concludes Benoit.
