BERICAP will be presenting sustainable, safe and consumer-friendly closures for industrial, food and beverage applications at this year’s Fachpack trade fair from 24 to 26 September 2024 in Nuremberg. These include new lightweight closures for the agricultural sector, sports caps in a mono-material design, the Ring Peel Liner with tamper-evident seal and the Clip Aside tamper-evident closures, which are ideal for ensuring compliance with the new requirements in the milk and dairy segment.
BERICAP is committed to sustainability and focuses on four priority areas. In product development, for example, it is concentrating on reducing the use of materials. The “lightweight” range for the agricultural sector has been extended to include special lightweight closures for 50 and 63 mm neck finishes. To advance closed-loop material cycles, BERICAP aims to use recycled materials in the production of its closures (PCR: Post Consumer Resin). Mono-material designs are also used wherever possible to eliminate the need for additional sorting in the recycling process.
The Ring Peel Liner, on the other hand, combines product protection and anti-counterfeiting. It is a liner with a tamper-evident function that prevents product contamination and provides proof to the consumer that the bottle has not been previously opened. Consumers can easily and intuitively remove the foil by lifting the tab. The outer ring of the Ring Peel Liner remains on the bottle to provide a secure seal when it is resealed. The pouring process is also clean and precise.
Closed Transfer System (CTS) solutions combine product protection with consumer safety and sustainability. An example of a CTS solution that received the Pack the Future Award is easyconnect, which was developed for the agricultural sector in collaboration with the 13 member companies of the easyconnect working group. The Closed Transfer System enables faster, easier and safer transfer of liquid crop protection products from the container to the sprayer, thereby significantly reducing operator exposure. The tamper-evident screw cap of the container is connected to the CTS coupler to drip-free transfer of the required amount of product to the sprayer. After emptying, the container is automatically cleaned and resealed so that it can be recycled with its closure. The CTS is resealable and leak-proof, even when only partially empty.
Dynamic and sustainable sports earplugs
Active people prefer drinks with easy-to-use closures. BERICAP sports caps with tamper-evident seal offer “sustainable convenience on the go”. For example, the one-piece sports cap “Biarritz” and the two-piece premium closure “Monet” are made in a mono-material design for optimum recyclability. A 180-degree opening angle makes all BERICAP sports caps easy to open with one hand and comfortable to drink from. The sports caps are also available in a version with a cord.
Clip Aside Snap-On Lids
BERICAP customers have already filled more than 15 billion bottles with Clip Aside closure caps on more than 70 filling lines, thereby complying with EU Directive 2019/904. The fact that the caps are firmly attached to the bottle means that they can be sent for recycling together with the bottle. The easy-to-use closures have a 180-degree opening and are available for all relevant neck finishes from 26 to 38 mm in various beverage categories: from carbonated soft drinks (CSD), water, juices and teas to milk-based drinks. The discontinuation of foil seals for milk-based products such as yoghurt drinks is a current topic of discussion in connection with EU Directive 2019/904.
Wide range of products in both aluminum and plastic
Following the integration of Mala Verschluss-Systeme GmbH into the BERICAP Group, the aluminium closures division has been renamed BERICAP Aluminium GmbH. The aluminium closure specialist will present a wide range of roll-on closures for wines and spirits, dairy drinks and edible oils. The range ranges from simple, burglar-proof (ROPP) aluminium roll-on closures to highly complex security closures. All products can be designed according to customer specifications.
