Berry

child resistant closure Berry Global Digi-Cap uses patient behavior data to improve medication adherence. The closure records patient openings via a small microprocessor chip and stores the use/opening history in memory.

The closure also monitors temperature storage levels and retains them in memory. When the closure is pushed down to remove it from the bottle, a switch is activated which is registered by the microprocessor chip. The time, date and temperature at the moment of opening are recorded, which should mean that a pill was removed from the package.

LED lights can be incorporated that can be used as useful indicators for the patient in case of openings too early according to the predefined program.

The circuit board incorporates a small chip NFC (Near Field Communication) to transmit information to devices (smartphone or PC), where usage and temperature information can be viewed and analyzed. The data is immediately viewed in the smartphone or PC app and can be sent to the technology provider's database for storage and further analysis.

The closure is designed with a finely ribbed sidewall for a better grip and a modified buttress thread ('M' style) provides more precise contact between the closure and the bottle thread. In addition, there are pictorial opening instructions on the top surface for a optimal user experience.
