Bosch points out the five key skills that AIoT will demand

The union between artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) represents a significant milestone in both technological and societal progress, offering greater efficiency and functionality in many sectors. This combination, known as AIoT, opens the doors to a scenario where the autonomous decision-making capacity of AI merges with the interconnection of the IoT, guiding us towards a horizon of innovation and automation.

The artificial intelligence of things market size was valued at nearly $28.000 billion in 2022 and is estimated to grow significantly from $35.650 billion in 2023 to $253.860 billion in 2030, thereby increasing at a compound rate. 32,4% annually during the forecast period.

The adoption of this technology has become essential for organizations, as they look for solutions that allow them to optimize costs and improve efficiency. For this reason, professionals in the sector must incorporate certain key skills, combining both technical and management skills, as well as the ability to continually learn in a rapidly evolving field. 

Based on this, Bosch points out the five essential skills that the AIoT sector will demand:

  1. Iartificial intelligence and machine learning: Having knowledge in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning will be one of the central skills to incorporate. IoT devices collect huge amounts of data, called sensor data, which is then analyzed. Machine Learning helps database administrators organize that data, determine how to keep readings correct across the board, and optimize installations. Therefore, you must be an expert in scientific methodologies, locate the problem, investigate and provide an appropriate solution. 
  1. Data analysis and interpretation capacity: AIoT systems generate enormous amounts of data, and professionals must make sense of this data to drive intelligent solutions for various sectors such as industry, healthcare, and mobility.
  1. Information security– Given the sensitive nature of data in AIoT systems, information security expertise is paramount. The system must be protected against external threats. Understanding how to secure devices and networks is crucial to maintaining data privacy and integrity.
  1. Interdisciplinary teamwork: Collaborative skills across different disciplines are very valuable in AIoT. Working effectively in interdisciplinary teams allows professionals to leverage diverse knowledge and perspectives to drive innovation in AIoT projects.
  1. Continuous learning: Given the rapid evolution of AIoT technologies, a commitment to continuous learning is essential. Professionals must stay up to date with the latest trends, tools and techniques to stay competitive in this field.
