Carmencita and ITC have come together to develop a new container of paprika with light barrier properties and an innovative lid with double opening.
The project began with the need to improve the behavior and functionality of double spout lids, traditionally used by the spice industry. A challenge that motivated the teams of both companies to develop a solution that was as simple as it was innovative: a lid with a double opening and hinge. This opening on the same plane and in two different directions allows the spices to be dispensed either with a spoon or by pouring the product directly.
Once the solution for the lid was reached, the idea arose to also change the packaging, thus creating a new set that stands out for its geometry within a category marked by uniformity.
The solution developed is hermetic thanks to the lid-container connection, heat-sealable helping to preserve the product, and a UV barrier thanks to the IML label used. In this way, they have managed to create a container that maintains all the aroma and organoleptic properties of the spices.
From a sustainability point of view, the new packaging uses less raw material and has a better cubic capacity thanks to its optimized stackability, thus contributing to reducing the carbon footprint. In addition, it is monomaterial and therefore recyclable through current waste management systems.
