Iberian Cartonplast has delivered his IV Sustainability AwardsThis year's winners have been Damm Group, in the category of beverage packagers (beer); Suntory Global Spirits, in the category of beverage packagers; and GB Foods, in the category of food packaging. In addition, the jury has awarded a special prize for the use of the new plastic pallets from Cartonplast to Idilia and Vicrila for its project to implement these new recyclable and sustainable packaging systems.

With these awards, the company has, for the third consecutive year, recognised the packaging and glass companies in the food and beverage sector that contribute the most to generating a positive impact on the environment. “When we started to celebrate these awards, we could not imagine the wonderful reception they would have, not only from the award-winning companies, but from the entire sector and the supply chain in general. We know that awareness is high, and that everyone's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment is even greater. And all this without losing efficiency in shipments and transport. Congratulations to each and every one of you,” comment Jose Maria Carrasco, general director of Cartonplast Ibérica.

The ceremony took place at a gala held at the Empack fair, in which the following companies also participated: Antonio Dobon, Area Manager Life Cycle Assessment of ITENE and Antonio Romero, Expert and senior advisor on circular economywith presentations on responsibility and circularity in the packaging sector.

“The life cycle of products is a key aspect for sustainability, and it is by analysing it completely, in a quantitative, truthful and coordinated manner, that we can truly assess the environmental impact of a product. Cartonplast is a good example of how this life cycle analysis, which we have been carrying out for them since 2021, can really make a difference,” explained Dobón.

Romero, for his part, spoke about sustainability being a long-distance race in which companies must work and compete not only with other companies, but also with regulations and with their own strategies and profitability: “The Royal Decree on Packaging is mandatory and, in this context, there are objectives such as the reuse of packaging that are difficult to meet. Having allied partners such as Cartonplast is a great help.”
