Cidacos adopts the Orbit closure from Crown ORBIT® CLOSURE

30th September 2019

Cidacos, a Spanish producer of packaged vegetables, together with Crown Food Europe, has adopted the Orbit closure in its asparagus, tomato and mushroom product lines in the Portuguese and Spanish markets with the aim of improving the consumer experience. The process of filling jarred vegetables creates a vacuum that can make opening difficult due to the pressures required to release the lid, especially when handling larger containers. The Orbit cap design solves this problem and provides more ease of use than conventional caps.

It is made up of two parts and the closure has a floating central panel vacuum sealed to the bottle and an outer ring that provides greater protection to the product and acts as an opening and closing device. A simple twist loosens the ring and breaks the seal of the liner compound without resistance. As a result, the torque or pressure required to open a jar is significantly reduced.

This design makes the closure better for older people, many of whom have less dexterity. According to Fernando Baroja, CEO of Cidacos: “We are delighted with the response from the market since we adopted the Orbit closure for our vegetable lines. The comments of our customers are proof of a positive step towards the deployment of the closure in other ranges. In addition to improving comfort for our customers, the closure adds an extra level of protection throughout the supply chain, ensuring that our products arrive in the best possible condition. "
