Danone Research and Avantium have reached a collaboration agreement for the joint development of PEF bottles with YXY technology. “Today, Danone is at the forefront of contributing to the development of next-generation bio-plastic bottles,” said Tom van Aken, CEO of Avantium.
A recent study by the Copernic Institute showed that PEF has a carbon footprint 50-60% lower than petroleum-based PET. Avantium is currently validating the use of supply and recycling chains, allowing a complete transition to organic PEF bottles in a period of between three and five years.
