Roland DG

Ecobliss has collaborated with Roland DG, a leader in advanced printing technology, to enhance the quality and visual appeal of its printed carton packaging – sustainable and easy-to-open packaging for the pharmaceutical sector. Following a successful partnership with Roland DG, through Mac Maniac BV, Roland DG’s leading reseller partner, Ecobliss recently upgraded its Roland DG VersaOBJECT CO-640i UV flatbed printer to further enhance its packaging solutions.

La VersaOBJECT CO-640i It is equipped with ECO-UV5 inks, which are GREENGUARD Gold certified, meaning they meet strict standards for low chemical emissions, making them ideal for consumer products, including those manufactured in the highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. This enables Ecobliss to produce vibrant, colour-accurate prints that meet the high standards of the pharmaceutical industry, whilst maintaining the recyclability and biodegradability of its cardboard packaging materials.

The printer supports a wide range of flexible and rigid substrates, ensuring versatility in packaging design. Marc Linssen, Packaging Developer en Ecobliss, says: “The ability of the CO-640i to print directly onto irregular or curved surfaces with great precision means we can offer more innovative and unique packaging solutions to our customers.”

Additionally, the CO-640i includes a comprehensive texture library, allowing Ecobliss to add additional expression and tactile elements to its packaging, further enhancing the patient accessibility characteristics of the packaging and differentiating its products.

Improving print quality and accessibility

Packaging solutions must meet rigorous standards in the pharmaceutical industry, where safety and compliance are paramount. Ecobliss has prioritized efficient prototyping and superior print quality over volume and speed. In doing so, they ensure their packaging solutions not only meet, but exceed industry expectations, improving drug safety.

The use of Roland DG’s advanced printing technology has been instrumental in this process, delivering accurate and vibrant prints that meet the high standards of the pharmaceutical industry. “The combination of GMG software and Roland DG technology is a game-changer for us,” says Marc Linssen of Ecobliss. “It allows us to achieve unrivalled colour accuracy and consistency across all of our packaging designs, ensuring we meet our aesthetic and regulatory goals.”
