December 31th 2014

The Barcelona Design Innovation Cluster (BDIC), the Barcelona design and innovation cluster promoted by BCD Barcelona Design Center, joins the Catalunya Clusters Program.
This recognition highlights the strategy and management of the BDIC, which meets the requirements to be part of this program, such as having at least 20 associated companies with a minimum aggregate turnover of 100 million euros, having a strategic plan to four years, be in a position of the Bronze Label certification granted by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA) and be aligned with the clusters policy of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Currently the BDIC has more than 150 members - of which 145 are companies of the BCD Business Club - who employ more than 4.676 people as a whole. The sum of the total turnover reaches 658,7 million euros, of which 31% is derived from exports, a figure that highlights the importance of promoting internationalization actions, one of the strategic focuses of the BDIC.
The main objective of the BDIC is to introduce design as a key innovation tool in four key areas -City, Health / Social, Mobile and Habitat- to improve the competitiveness of member companies, and position Barcelona and, by extension, Catalonia, as a pole of excellence at an international level in innovation through design, a purpose that is aligned with the Catalunya Clusters Program.
