El Packaging Cluster has renewed its certificate Gold Label which recognizes, according to European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA), the management of cluster entities, considering the commitment and professionalism of its team. Last January, the cluster underwent an audit by ESCA experts to determine if it met the excellence requirements, with a positive result. The recognition is valid for 2 years and has been granted by the director of the ESCA, Helmut Kergel; and by alberto comminges, president of the Cluster Excellence Expert Group.
In 2020, the Packaging Cluster obtained the Gold Label certificate for the first time, together with 6 other Catalan entities: MODACC, Catalan Water Partnership, Beauty Cluster Barcelona, FEMAC and Secpho. As a consequence of the covid pandemic, the award ceremony was carried out virtually, chaired by the Minister of Business and Knowledge of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Hon. Ramon Tremos. The director of ESCA, Helmut Kergel, previously mentioned; the councilor delegate of ACCIÓ, John Romero y Joan Marti, director of business strategy at ACCIÓ.
To obtain the Gold Label, the cluster must meet certain requirements of "excellence" in terms of structure, governance, financing, strategy, services and recognition. 31 indicators that demonstrate the quality of the service offered, after auditing by ESCA experts, a commitment to continuous improvement.
Worldwide, there are only 144 clusters from 19 different countries that have the Gold Label recognition.
