Estrella Damm eliminates the plastics that wrap packs of cans

February 11th 2021

Estrella Damm already produces all packs of cans without the decorated plastics that surround them, replacing them with packaging made with cardboard from forests managed in a sustainable and responsible way. A project that will mean the reduction of 99 tons of plastic per year and that joins the initiatives of the brand to achieve a more eco-sustainable packaging.

Thus, Estrella Damm completely eliminates retractable plastic decorations of his packs of six, twelve and twenty-four cans of beer. The new packaging, made with natural fibers that are PEFC certified, is characterized by having round edges and having different opening options, facilitating interaction with consumers.

A project that will mean the reduction of 99 tons of plastic per year, and that adds to the more than 260 tons of plastic that it already eliminated last year with the replacement of the plastic rings of its cans with other 100% biodegradable cardboard . With these two initiatives, Estrella Damm will reduce more than 359 tons of plastic per year.
