Smurfit Westrock presents FibreSeal, a kraft paper with heat-sealable properties designed to replace plastic film in e-commerce, consumer goods and multipack applications.

This solution, which helps reduce the carbon footprint, combines mechanical strength, flexibility and heat sealing capability, offering a recyclable alternative to traditional plastic bags and bundlers in applications where an oxygen barrier is not required.

To facilitate a real transition towards sustainability, this paper is compatible with equipment already installed in production centers and does not require additional investment as it is processable on existing plastic lines.

FibreSeal It replaces single-use plastics, offering a wide range of applications across multiple sectors, from e-commerce to retail. Its adaptability and versatility allow it to be used as a bundling tool for promotional packs; in the food industry, for bags of pasta, rice, or coffee, or multipacks of dry goods like cookies or snacks; in home and hardware stores, for tissues, diapers, screws, and kitchen utensils; and in stationery and office supplies, as bundling tools for pens, markers, or notebooks.

The material also stands out for its high tear and burst resistance, adapting to the products it contains through different paper weight configurations. Furthermore, it can be printed on the surface and is customizable, offering extensive branding possibilities as it is delivered in rolls of various sizes to meet customer needs.

From the Totana plant, they have created this solution that is recyclable in the standard paper flow and complies with recyclability tests and the new PPWR regulations, promoting more responsible alternatives aligned with the objectives of a circular economy.
