Fibtray Solutions SL, a startup backed by AINIA and REDIT Ventures, has signed an agreement with La Plana Group to produce the tray fiber tray, an laminated cardboard packaging that can rReduce plastic use by up to 96%. compared to conventional trays, whose design allows for the development of cardboard solutions suitable for packaging in modified atmosphere (MAP) with guarantees.

Designed for recyclability in the paper/cardboard circuit, Fibtray improves the packaging's airtightness—thanks to a patented, flat, seamless, fully uniform sealing edge—reduces the risk of in-line defects, and reinforces food safety.

The Fibtray tray offers a packaging solution that combines sustainability and industrial viability. Its optimized design ensures stable in-line performance, facilitating consistent and reliable heat-sealing processes, as well as seamless integration into existing packaging systems, including modified atmosphere packaging (MAP). Furthermore, its versatile design allows it to adapt to different product categories, contributing to expanding sustainable packaging options in the food industry.

To Cristina Del Campo, General Director of AINIAThis agreement reinforces AINIA's mission to transfer technology that helps the industry decarbonize packaging without compromising food safety or industrial efficiency. "With Grupo La Plana as a manufacturing partner in the Valencian Community, we are bringing an AINIA patent closer to real-world production, providing companies with a competitive alternative to plastic that is ready to be integrated into their packaging lines," highlighted the director of AINIA.
