Font Vella launches its first bottle 100% made from other bottles

23th September 2020

Font Vella, Danone waters, has just launched its first bottle made in a 100% recycled plastic (rPET), with its 50cl format, intended for the catering sector (bars, cafes, restaurants and hotels). In addition, like the rest of the brand's packaging, the new bottle is 100% recyclable and includes the message "100% made from other bottles" to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and its key role in offering sustainable packaging.

Font Vella is working to increase the use of this material more and more. In this sense, this year it will launch another format with 100% recycled and recyclable plastic, which in turn joins the bottle of the other Aguas Danone brand, Lanjarón, which is also made with 100% recycled plastic and recyclable.

Committed to the circular economy

This novelty responds to Aguas Danone's global commitment that 100% of its bottles are made of recycled plastic by 2025, betting on giving plastics a second life. In the words of Borja Lafuente, Danone's sustainability manager in Spain: “Well-managed PET containers can once again be a resource. In a context in which Aguas Danone is committed to introducing recycled raw material (rPET) in our packaging, it is more necessary than ever to create a secondary market for recycled pet (rPET) capable of satisfying the sector's demand in quantity and quality. "

In addition, Aguas Danone is also committed to generating a market for quality recycled plastic with the Renueva project. At the moment it has a first plant for the selection of containers in Montcada and Reixac (Barcelona), created together with the Trinijove Foundation and Ecoembes, in which it is working to recover containers and their correct classification that allows to generate new plastic bottles recycling, while also betting on training and giving a job opportunity to people at risk of social exclusion.

Aguas Danone is also committed to having a positive impact on natural ecosystems and, within the framework of its certification as a B Corp brand - the global community that brings together companies and brands that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, and transparency. and of legal responsibility -, its lines of work include the commitment to become a Carbon Neutral company in 2025. That is, to be a zero emissions company, a goal that it will achieve through measurement, reduction and compensation projects. Likewise, the company is committed to making a responsible use of the quality and quantity of water, participating in activations against littering, and raising awareness and educating citizens about the importance of caring for the planet.

In this sense, Aguas Danone has reduced, in just five years (2015-2020), the CO2 equivalent to 700.000 trees absorbing CO2 for 10 years. Through initiatives such as 'I am a Protected Natural Area' of Font Vella, it helps to preserve the biodiversity of the starting point of its water in Sigüenza and Sant Hilari Sacalm, in the hands of Mycorrhiza and Sèlvans, environmental organizations in each of these areas. .
