Winners of the Label Industry Global Awards

4th October 2017

The Label Industry Global Awards 2017 have awarded the most innovative works in the printing industry of packaging and labels. The teams behind these innovations, launched on the market last year, received their awards in front of more than 500 colleagues from the sector at a gala dinner held on September 25 as part of Labelexpo Europe (Brussels).

Along with PEIAC Professor Tan Junqiao, who had just received the prestigious R. Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award, HERMA, AIM and ebeam Technologies were also officially announced as winners of other categories in this edition.

El R. Stanton Avery Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Avery Dennison, went to Professor Tan, founder and honorary president of PEIAC (China Label Sub Association of the Printing Equipment Industries Association of China).

El Innovation award (for companies with more than 300 employees) sponsored by Flint Group Narrow Web was delivered to HERMA GmbH for its superTack (63Vst). The jury selected the manufacturer of self-adhesive label application systems because this innovation has enabled HERMA to create the world's first resin-free label adhesive that requires extremely strong initial adhesion. This characteristic makes this adhesive the perfect solution for films, as well as for damp, greasy, dirty or dusty surfaces, and allows its use beyond the food sector. When applied with resin, HERMA's adhesive achieves approval for dry, wet and fatty foods, and approaches the zero migration benchmark.

El Innovation award (for companies with up to 300 employees), also sponsored by Flint Group Narrow Web, was for AIM, the trade association for the auto-identification industry.

ebeam Technologies took the Sustainability award, sponsored by Labels & Labeling Magazine for its Compact drying unit.

The jury for the 14th edition of these awards was chaired by Mike Fairley and made up of Thomas Hagmaier, former president of FINAT; Craig Moreland, President of TLMI; Rosina Obermayer, editor of NarrowWebTech; and Andy Thomas, strategic director of Labelexpo.
