GPA Luxury manufactures the packaging of Ellen 9 Rogue Casks

January 4, 2021

The 'ghost' distillery of Port Ellen unveiled a new release: a whiskey 40 years old obtained from rediscovered barrels in their warehouses.

Master blender Dr. Craig Wilson chose and assembled nine different kegs, each of which boasts its own distinctive flavor profile. Combined, these long lost 'rebel' barrels have created an exceptional whiskey. Only 1.380 bottles have been released, making it one of the most desirable whiskeys to come out of the distillery since they closed their doors in 1983.

GPA Luxury manufactured the packaging for this exclusive whiskey. They began with the construction of the box, which has two hinged doors and a hidden drawer in the base.

They stained the exterior of the veneer black and added embellishments to the exterior door: a red and white silk-screened brand, and a laser-etched paper label inserted into a recess. The drawer at the base opens and closes with a gentle push, and contains two gold keys set in a cream-colored fixture and held in place with black bands; it is with these keys that the user can open the pack.

The larger key is inserted into the golden lock on the side, opening the outer door. The interior of the bottle is visible through the second door, which is transparent with a gold rim and features screen-printed images of each rogue barrel. This door can be opened with the smallest gold key, allowing the user to access the whiskey. The bottle itself is held in a cream-colored faux suede-lined accessory and can be slipped with a grosgrain ribbon accessory behind the neck.

On the opposite side, the inside of the door is lined in the same cream colored faux suede and contains a booklet detailing the fascinating history of 9 Rogue Casks. One last detail is the fine divided gold line that runs along the circumference, which differentiates between the two halves of the pack.
