Heidelberg the new Versafire EV

April 2th 2018

With Versafire EV (Electrophotography & Versatility), Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG proposes a versatile digital production system, designed to be used by both beginners and experienced providers of digital printing. With the new “invisible red” specialty toner, Versafire EV now offers a total of five specialty colors. Along with white, varnish, neon yellow and neon pink toner, the new “invisible red” provides even more additional beautification options. In daylight, it has a slightly shiny effect and under UV light, the toner glows bright red. The use of “invisible red” provides copy protection and the five spot colors facilitate a wide variety of creative applications.

The new automatic calibration and in-line registration provide a high degree of stability, precision and a considerable improvement in quality. In-line color measurement and automatic calibration take place before the printing process and ensure consistent color stability throughout. The highest image quality is achieved thanks to the new resolution of 4,800 × 2,400 dpi.

Versafire EV has an increased print speed of 85 to 95 A4 pages per minute and processes weights up to 360 gsm. Additionally, the system can print banners up to 700mm (duplex) and up to 1.260mm (simplex). Prinect Digital Frontend (DFE), developed by Heidelberg, enables intelligent integration into digital and offset printing processes. By using this DFE, the Versafire EV can be easily integrated into a print shop's existing workflow. JD Druck GmbH in Lauterbach, Hesse, was the first user to test the machine.
