Heidelberg Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) presented live its latest world premiere, the new Speedmaster CX104, riding a Chinese Printing, from June 23 to 27 in Beijing and, simultaneously, in the digital event It's showtime. Just one year after introducing the 2020 generation Speedmaster at Drupa, the company unveils the next product innovation embedded in its core sheetfed offset printing business.
With the new Speedmaster CX104, Heidelberg seeks to continue to consolidate its position in the packaging segment and meet the growing demand for flexible printing systems, with a variety of solutions automation and variants in the commercial sector. The new 104 sheet format equipment offers commercial printing, packaging and label customers access to Heidelberg's next-generation sheet-fed offset technology at an optimal price-performance ratio. With the possibility of customization of the machine, these customers benefit from the free scalability of the system, which extends to Push to Stop functionality, as well as custom configurations with up to 15 printing / coating units.

The Speedmaster CX 104 features a new ergonomic design with great accessibility and offers a completely new operating philosophy (Heidelberg UX), which, together with a large number of assistance systems included as standard, provides the best possible support for operators on the Prinect Press Center XL 3 control station and on the machine itself.
To ensure that makeready times are always short, the patented Intellistart 3 system automatically determines the makeready processes required for job production by constantly monitoring machine status and comparing with upcoming jobs. Once all the commissioning processes have been carried out, the execution order is given automatically. The Intelliguide system and Intelliline color control LED elements located on the printing and coating units inform operators of the equipment's operational status at any given time and indicate any manual intervention that is necessary.
To all these novelties, a series of assistance systems based on artificial intelligence, such as Wash Assistant and Color Assistant Pro. These systems allow for intuitive and easy-to-use end-to-end operation, ensuring stable processes that can be precisely controlled at all times and increasing throughput thanks to minimal setup times, less waste and lower energy consumption. Prinect color measurement systems also provide optimal and reproducible color stability with minimal waste.
One of the highlights of the Speedmaster CX 104 is its new coating unit. Based on XL technology, this unit focuses on simplified operation, faster set-up and further improvement in coating quality.
The inking / dampening unit on the new Speedmaster CX 104 is designed for optimum quality and productivity. Additional features are also available for customers looking to further improve inking / wetting unit performance, especially in UV printing.
Coinciding with the market launch of the Speedmaster CX 104, Heidelberg also presents the new Speedmaster CX92. Like the Speedmaster CX 104, the CX 92 benefits from a new ergonomic design, the new and redesigned coating unit, and inking / wetting unit innovations.
