Hispack, The leading packaging, processing and logistics trade fair in the Iberian market is preparing to celebrate its 20th edition and 45 years of history from May 4th to 7th, 2027 at the Gran Vía venue in Fira de Barcelona.
The 2027 edition aims to continue the growth trend of recent years and strengthen the show's broad appeal. In the recent formation of the organizing committee, chaired by Jordi Bernabeu, director of Markem-Imaje in southern Europe, The commitment of the Spanish packaging ecosystem was highlighted, which sees Hispack as a tool for innovation and sectoral meeting.
For Jordi Bernabeu, “Hispack 2027 will be a particularly significant edition. We look back with pride on the 20 editions of the show's history, but above all, we want to project ourselves into the future. Packaging is experiencing a moment of change, and our goal is to consolidate Hispack as the space where this evolution becomes visible, where the sector grows, and where conversations are generated that have a real impact on the industry and society.”
The goal is to exceed 900 exhibitors, 10% more than in 2024, and expand the presence of leading companies in the five key sectors: industrial packaging; packaging for manufacturers and brands; process machinery and packaging; labeling and bottling; and logistics, robotics, and automation. It is anticipated that more than a quarter of the participating companies will be international.
The evolution of the supply will also be evident in the balance between machinery and packaging materials and solutions, each accounting for 50% of the total.
In parallel, Hispack will coincide with graphispagThe leading trade fair for the graphic arts industry, with which it shares origins and history, will bring another hundred exhibitors, generating synergies in design, printing, labeling, coding, and graphic and visual communication solutions for packaged products and Point-of-Sale (POS) advertising. Between the two events, more than a thousand exhibitors are expected, attracting 37.000 visitors, 15% of whom will be international.
The fair's program of events (conferences, roundtables, and presentations) will continue to highlight packaging challenges such as sustainability, eco-design, digitalization, materials innovation, energy efficiency, smart logistics, and the promotion of new technologies applied to the packaging process. Additionally, the following will be presented again: best-in-class, international success stories where packaging acts as a vector of transformation.
El Salon director, Xavier Pascual, underlines the importance of the sector's collective commitment to the fair: “The involvement of the packaging ecosystem with Hispack is extraordinary. When a sector mobilizes in this way, important things happen. In this edition, we want to highlight the real contribution of packaging to society and demonstrate that our sector not only drives the industry, but also builds the future.”
Activities planned for the anniversary
A highlight is a gala dinner at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC), which will bring together more than 400 attendees, including executives from leading companies, professional associations and institutional representatives from both the packaging industry and client sectors.
A commemorative book is also being prepared, along with an event to recognize individuals and companies that have shaped Hispack's history, from its origins linked to Graphispack in the 1960s and 1970s to its first thematic edition in 1972 and its emancipation from the graphic arts exhibition, with the definitive name of Hispack in 1983. The exhibition, which was initially held every two years, adopted a triennial format from 2006 onwards.
This historical memory will coexist with a look towards the future, adding a multidisciplinary proposal called “The Skin of Society”, It will connect packaging with culture, science, health, anthropology and art, and will bring together leading voices to explain how packaging has accompanied technological, logistical and consumer advances.
