hubergroup print solutions presents the new series sheetfed offset inks MGA Contact, indicated for secure printing inside paper and cardboard food packaging. In combination with the appropriate hubergroup dispersion varnish, MGA Contact can be in direct contact with the food, so that functional barriers are not required. The color gamut and color fastness of the ink series available worldwide are comparable to those of conventional offset printing inks.
“With MGA Contact, brand owners and packaging designers now have double the space for their messages and information. It allows for an even more attractive design for packaging for fruit, vegetables or chocolates”, explains Josef Sutter, Product Manager Sheetfed/UV Europe at Hubergroup. This is possible because, for this series of inks, the printing ink specialist only uses ingredients approved for food contact according to EU guidelines and FDA criteria. In addition, he manufactures the series of inks in a dedicated production facility at his plant in Celle, Germany.
MGA Contact achieves the same process stability in printing as other MGA ink series, so there is no need to adapt printers. Then, it is enough to varnish the series of inks with a dispersion varnish, also suitable for direct contact with food. For this, Hubergroup recommends using products from its Acrylac DFC (Direct Food Contact) series.
MGA Contact has good color fastness and covers a wide range of colors as it is an ECG (Extended Color Gamut) series. In addition, the ink series is recyclable thanks to its sustainable formulation.
