ILIP showed the New version of the Smart Ripe Trolley, the IoT (Intelligence of Things) system to monitor the ripening process of tropical fruits in industrial environments, at Fruit Attraction, designed especially for avocado, the star product of the 2024 edition of the fair, which was held in Madrid from October 8 to 10.
In addition, ILIP presents Hortipack, the complete range of professional solutions (growing boxes and alveoli, transport trays and seedbeds) for fruit and vegetable production, made of recycled PET and PS. Thanks to the use of up to 90% recycled material and the recyclability of the references, Hortipack contributes to reducing the environmental impact and encouraging the circular economy. Among the most innovative products are the pre-cut alveoli, ideal for optimizing retail and transportation, and el R-PET seedbed, designed to be combined with XPS (extruded expanded polystyrene) seedbeds for industrial sowing of tomatoes, chicory and tobacco. The combination allows the XPS seedbeds to be reused for several years (which are not contaminated when placed underneath), thus guaranteeing a perfectly sterile result.
It is also exposed to the range dedicated to packaging of fresh products, which includes baskets, trays and cells made of plastic, bioplastic and R-PET designed to protect fruit and vegetables, prolong their shelf life and thus reduce food waste. ILIP packaging has been developed to reduce its environmental impact thanks to the use of recycled and recyclable materials and downgauging, i.e. a lower weight but with the same performance.
In addition, the company's R-PET packaging is derived from a special process of T2T R-PET® (T2T=tray to tray), i.e. the recycling of post-consumer bottles and trays from which other trays suitable for contact with food are obtained, thus avoiding having to use the same amount of virgin raw material. This process is possible thanks to ILIP's membership in the ILPA Group, whose companies cover all the recycling and conversion stages of PET and R-PET derived from household waste of bottles and trays from which the secondary raw material that ILIP uses for its packaging is obtained. Complete control of the R-PET value chain makes the company stand out in the European market as an example of the application of the principles of the circular economy.
