AIMPLAS, Technological Institute of Plastic, recently inaugurated its new R + D + ie buildingn an act that was attended by about 150 people and with the presence of the President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Ximo Puig, among other personalities.
The new facilities have a surface area of more than 1.000 square meters, in addition to the 8.500 square meters that the technology center already had, distributed in six other buildings.
“The new building houses our pilot compounding plants and will allow us to strengthen our activity in fields such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, additive manufacturing, 3D printing or active packaging, through the development of plastic compounds with properties such as electrical conductivity, resistance to fire, antibacterial or high barrier action ”, explained the managing director of AIMPLAS, José Antonio Costa.
Thanks to this, the technology center will be able to continue meeting the innovation needs of its customers in sectors as diverse as packaging, aeronautics, automotive, construction, electrical-electronic or medical.
The new facilities have been built taking into account the most demanding measures to preserve the safety of the researchers who work in them as well as to minimize the impact of their activity on the environment.
For his part, the president of AIMPLAS, José Luis Yusá, highlighted how the new building is the result of need, but also “of illusion, and teamwork. And it will allow us to increase the number of R & D & i projects that we carry out annually and, with it, increase the transfer of knowledge to companies ”.
The President of the Generalitat Valenciana in his speech acknowledged the difficulties that companies and entrepreneurs must face, and assured: “The important thing is to know how to get up and restart a project as you have done at AIMPLAS. They are the values that the Valencian Community wants to have ”. "There are no shortcuts to prosperity, the main thing is the product, and that is associated with innovation," he declared.
