Innobusiness Meeting Point 2024: AI revolutionizes the food sector

FOOD+i, the food cluster of the Ebro Valley, Yesterday it held its annual meeting of partners at the La Grajera Institutional Winery, in Logroño.

During the Conference, FOOD+i has brought together its partners and various invited entities to discuss the main challenges of the agri-food sector and explore new opportunities and strategies. This year, coinciding with the recent approval of the European Artificial Intelligence Law, the event has focused on the impact of this technology on business, exploring success stories and its applications in the agri-food field.

After the inauguration of the event by Amadeo Lazaro, general director of Business, Energy and Internationalization of the Government of La Rioja, the morning was divided into three blocks: in the first, the companies worked together in a co-creation workshop on the use of AI in the design of innovation and sales strategies, and the applications of generative AI in companies have been analyzed, with the participation of Diego Fernandez Pons, founder and CEO at Wine Luthier, Nicolas Bemaman, Head of Growth Marketing at Tastewise y Sergio Muñoz Lezcano, Head of Digital and Emerging Technologies at Tecnalia.

In the second block, during the Annual Members' Assembly, five startup partners of FOOD+i, LevProt, Altavitis, InsektLabel y Pack2Earth have presented their innovative projects with the aim of promoting interconnection and generating new ideas within the sector.

The meeting concluded with the inspiring presentation "The Revolution of Artificial Intelligence in the Food Industry” by Beatriz Romanos, expert in Foodtech companies, which has addressed how this technology can transform processes and improve efficiency throughout the entire value chain, followed by a few words of Belinda Leon, Minister of Economy, Innovation, Business and Self-Employment.

As explained Old John, Cluster Manager of FOOD+i: “on this occasion, we wanted to provide our partners with a space to explore the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence and other emerging technologies, with the aim of promoting innovation and improving competitiveness in the food sector. ”

The FOOD+i Cluster is a private business organization that promotes collaboration between entities linked to the agri-food sector of the Ebro Valley, providing them with resources to promote their corporate innovation. Currently, FOOD+i has 116 associate members and mobilizes a portfolio of 17 R&D&I projects with a total budget of 23,50 million euros at national and European level.
