Jonquil Hackenberg will assume her new role as executive director of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation on November 4, 2024. It will replace Andrew Morlet, who announced his intention to leave the Foundation earlier this year after ten successful years as executive director.

Jonquil Hackenberg is an experienced leader with a proven track record of over 20 years in business transformation, sustainability and the circular economy. Her experience in fostering collaboration and partnerships between businesses, innovators and policymakers will be key to expanding the Foundation’s reach and impact.

She was the Managing Director of Eunomia Research and Consulting, a socio-environmental research and consultancy. In this role, she set the strategic direction of the company, focused on circular, natural and carbon economies, based on sound policies and strong scientific expertise. Previously, she was Global Head of Sustainability and Climate Change Response at PA Consulting, where she led the COP26 campaign on the water-carbon nexus, as well as engaging the company on the Science Based Targets Initiative. Prior to that, she held various roles at Infosys over a period of 13 years, the last of which was as Global Head of Sustainable Business.

“I am absolutely delighted to be taking on the role of CEO of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, an organisation I have long admired for its pioneering work on the circular economy. I have spent the majority of my career working to ensure that circularity, climate response and sustainability are at the forefront of business strategy. I couldn’t be more excited to lead the Foundation at such a critical time,” she says. Jonquil Hackenberg.

Jonquil Hackenberg's first high-profile engagement will be at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January 2025, where she will join Ellen MacArthur and her team to continue strengthening the Foundation’s mission of driving systemic change towards a circular economy, amplifying its influence on the global stage at a critical juncture for economic transformation.

La Ellen MacArthur Foundation The Foundation was established in 2010 with a small team based on the Isle of Wight, UK. Andrew Morlet, who joined the Foundation in January 2013 to lead the development of its business network, has played a key role in its growth. He became the Foundation’s second Chief Executive in 2014. Under his leadership, the Foundation has raised over £150m in project funding and played a major role in mobilising over £350bn in public and private investment funding in the circular economy. The organisation now employs over 000 people across offices in Brazil, Belgium, China, the UK and the US.
