Conference «Design Beyond Technology» in Barcelona

March 20th 2019

La Industrial Design Association for the Promotion of Arts and Design (ADI-FAD) organizes a conference on March 21 and 22 at the Disseny Hub Barcelona to reflect on the relationships between design and technology.
"Visions of Future" is the first edition of "Design Beyond Technology" (DBT), a new project every two years, which is held as an alternative to the ADI Awards for industrial design. "It is an invitation to look beyond technology," said Raffaella Perrone, vice president of ADI-FAD and commissioner of DBT together with Raúl García and Gennís Senén. "The objective of these days is not to give answers, but to ask questions," he added during the presentation of the event. The challenge is "to focus, question and generate opinion on design as a discipline and as a profession."
"Design Beyond Technology" is structured around four key concepts: design, technology, future and society. It is aimed at designers and engineers, technology companies and start-ups, universities and research centers, as well as the general public.
Gennís Senén explained the program, which includes different activities: conferences, case studies and a networking dinner among the speakers. In addition to being a platform to empower local professionals, the conference brings together internationally renowned speakers from the new technologies sector: Joao Albuquerque (BIG, Bjarke Ingels Group), Steven Goldfarb (ATLAS Experiment, CERN), Francesca Sangalli (Seat), Aldo Sollazzo (Noumena), Elina Nilsson and Roger Pujol (B-Reel), Toni Juan (Metempsy), Moon Ribas (Cyborg Foundation), Tej Chauhan (Tej Chauhan Ltd), Petter Neby (Punkt), Alfred Batet (Simon), Xavier Majoral (Stimulo), Marc Real (Perspective)… At the end of the second day, there will be a case study, with the participation of Perspectiva, Leitat and Stimulo, chaired by Sofía Majan (Zinc), "a round table from the perspective of product design and new technologies", concluded Gennís Senén .
