What do you think are the main challenges facing the sector in the short and long term?
The cardboard packaging sector, represented by ASPACK, faces a positive but challenging 2025 outlook. On the one hand, the growing demand for sustainable, recyclable and biodegradable packaging solutions is driving the use of cardboard over less environmentally friendly materials such as plastic.
However, the sector must also overcome significant challenges. These include the pressure to innovate in materials and processes to comply with increasingly strict environmental regulations to satisfy increasingly conscious consumers. Added to this are the rising costs of production, energy and raw materials, as well as the need to improve efficiency in all aspects. Digitalisation and automation will play a key role in achieving greater competitiveness and sustainability. In short, 2025 will be a year of adaptation, in which regulations, innovation, sustainability and automation will mark the future of cardboard.
