The annual event, organized by BCD Barcelona Design Center with the support of the City Council of Barcelona, plans to exceed 20.000 participants in the last edition.

This year, 89 organizers have wanted to join this initiative and have made possible a program that exceeds 100 activities, among which are 33 exhibitions, 21 workshops, 20 conferences and 22 presentations, as well as circuits, inaugurations, networking activities, performances and parties, among others.

During the presentation, the Second Deputy Mayor, Jaume Collboni, explained that “a line of work to promote the city in the design and fashion environment has been launched in collaboration with the private sectors, to give a new impetus to the city ". "We want to promote the creative industries to make Barcelona a center linked to innovation, technology and design," he added.

Under the title 'Transforming society', this year's BDW aims to disseminate and value design as a tool for transforming society and as a key factor for innovation, sustainability and improvement of people's quality of life. In this sense, the President of the BCD, Pau Herrera, pointed out that "design is a transformative element that can respond to the current challenges of society".

For his part, Jaume Collboni stressed that this edition of the Barcelona Design Week "It highlights design as a tool for social transformation for a more inclusive and sustainable city."
