It is an honorary award that since 1928 has distinguished the work and career of one or more people, projects or institutions for their overall work or for a solid and continuous career in one of the many fields that make up the arts.

The FAD Board has decided to award this prize to the Mies van der Rohe Foundation “For its tireless work in preserving and disseminating architectural heritage. Born from the reconstruction of the 1929 German Pavilion, the Foundation has transformed this project into a permanent mission to maintain it as a living museum, where artists and architects engage with, evaluate, or challenge the history of architecture. Also for its role as an essential connector between European architecture and the public. This year, at a pivotal moment in which Barcelona serves as World Architecture Capital, the Mies van der Rohe Foundation has become the epicenter of this global dialogue. Its capacity to foster excellence and critical reflection is fundamental to understanding the centrality of our city on the map of international architecture and urbanism.”

Anna Ramos, director of the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, along with other members of the team, collected the FAD Medal.

Furthermore, the FAD Board has also awarded a Medal to the printer Jordi de Casacuberta, “For being a long-time collaborator of the FAD in the production of lithographs. Jordi has always carried out his work with great professionalism and care, guaranteeing unquestionable quality. His loyalty, both to the profession and to the institution, his enthusiasm, his generosity in sharing his knowledge, and his tireless dedication make him a benchmark of artisanal know-how and one of the guardians of a craft that keeps the graphic tradition of our country alive.”
